Job Overview:
The Fiber Optic Install and Repair Technician will possess excellent technical ability as well as customer service skills. You would be responsible for installing drops from pole to customer prem.
Required Skills:
- Installation of fiber optic cabling from the interior of the home to the exterior FTTH housing
- Prep and splice fiber optic connectors
- Installation of ONT (Optical Network Terminal), wireless router and video streaming players
- Complete the setup of wireless network and streaming services in the home
- Troubleshoot customer’s home network to isolate and resolve service-related issues
- Educate customers on how to properly operate their newly installed services
- Testing and repairing (splicing) of fiber network cable
- Troubleshooting optical networking equipment
- Use of OTDR light testing or similar equipment
Education:
- 1-3 years’ experience in the field
- Be able to properly use hand tools and power tools
- Able to perform all work neatly with exceptional attention to detail
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and move 75 lbs
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Must be able to communicate in a courteous and professional manner
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint
- Ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries
- Experience leading teams of personnel across disciplines towards project objectives
- Experience defining and documenting processes, driving continuous improvement to processes via process measurement/metrics
- Experience leading complex, strategic projects with successful results
- Proven results in building strong peer-level and cross-functional relationships
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Must work independently with minimal direction
- Experienced in conflict management and seeing those issues through successfully
- Ability to learn multiple applications
- Proven ability to develop effective relationships with all levels of the organization and peer groups
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
