
Event Review – 30th Annual Down East Golf Classic Tournament
MOUNTAIN, LTD. was a major sponsor in this years Down East Golf Classic charity event. MOUNTAIN and the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association (ITPA) is comprised of members who seek out opportunities to impact our communities through initiatives that support veteran causes, cancer awareness, Alzheimer’s awareness, hospice houses, and The Ronald McDonald House to name a few. MOUNTAIN assisted in hosting the event at Nonsuch River Golf Club venue in Scarborough, ME on August 1, 2019.

Eighty team members completed the 18 hole scramble format. Throughout the event, different competitions were included: Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin & Putting Contest. Beautiful weather and provided the perfect backdrop as the golfers moved about the course and enjoyed time to discuss business, socialize, and have some fun. At the end of the competition, a BBQ cookout was provided for all the participants, and several drawings for donated prizes were awarded from several of the attending organizations.
MOUNTAIN’s teams took 1st place in the Net competition & 2nd place in the Gross. Congratulations to the team members Gregg Klatsky, Rick Heenan, John Rau, Craig Skeffington, Adam Cummiskey, Dustin Thall, Joe Aresco, and David St Martin.
Women’s Long Drive and Closest to the pin was won by Suzanne Reed of UniTel
Men’s Long Drive was won by Garrett Porack of Pro-Tel
Men’s Closest to the Pin was won by Lee Toscass of Consolidated Communications
Putting Contest was won by the last golfer of the day Matt Dube of BerryDunn, who was the only one to sink it in the small target.
